Carmen had a great shoot with the Koonce family on Monday. Such a beautiful group and looks like they had a great time!

We shot the Abbs family over the weekend and man, let me tell ya, they are a blast. So much fun, life and energy. We were originally going to shoot at Garden of the Gods but the weather would not cooperate so we moved it to our basement studio. Anyway, here are a few of the shots that we took. Hope you enjoy them!

We had the opportunity to take photos of a wonderful girl who recently graduated from High School. We met up in Old Colorado City and then headed over to the downtown area to shoot on the train tracks. She was quite the trooper as it was raining most of the time we were out and rather gloomy, but we managed to make it a great day had a good time getting some great shots.

Well, after some recent issues with space and bandwidth with our current web host, we have decided to move hosts. So, as a result, we will be down for a few hours at some point this evening while we make the transition and the DNS updates. I apologize in advance for the inconvenience but we should be back up and running sometime this evening. If you run into any issues after the upgrade, please let us know so we can get them fixed as soon as possible!
Thanks!!
We had the distinct privilege of shooting the AIM first annual recital! it was a ton of fun and the event went off without any major glitches. Big thanks goes out to Tami and Jeni over at AIM for putting together a wonderful show and a great studio! Thanks guys. Everyone should check them out at http://www.aim-performingarts.com/
Also, for all the dancers and parents, we are uploading all of the pictures over the next 24 hours and they will be viewable and purchasable at http://photosbyjcm.com/proofs . If you have any questions feel free to shoot us an email at info@photosbyjcm.com .
We did a wonderful photoshoot with the dancers and teachers at Artistry in Motion dance studio last evening. We had a blast with Tami and Jeni, the studio owners, and all the dance students who came out after hours to shoot for the studio. Many of these shots will end up as wall art for the studio.
We are also trying out a new way to display photos on our site using a slideshow. So, let us know what you think of it since it’s new to us and you.
So, my lovely wife had a shoot today to do some headshots for a young lady from a local dance studio and so, Jaemen and I decided to tag along since the weather was wonderful. After the shoot we got to stroll around the streets a bit and take some shots as he was very interested in all of the cool colors! He was pretty happy to just be outside I think. Anyway, here is our afternoon, hope you enjoy! I’m sure Carmen will be posting the other photos from her shoot shortly…

Here is an article from the Special Olympics website that covers what today is all about. The goal is to end the blatant and random use of the word retard. Read the article and join up in our battle!! For those who know us, they know that our youngest son Jaemen was born with Down Syndrome and since he was born we have been advocates for those with disabilities and as such this is something that touches very close to us on a personal level. So, read the article and go to the site and post your proclamation to end the R-word!

What It’s All About
Spread the Word to End the Word is raising the consciousness of society about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the R-word and urge people to pledge to stop using it as an insult, casual or intended. (Take the pledge right now! )
“The earlier we can start teaching this awareness, the easier it will be to reverse the language, ” wrote James Saetern of Sacramento, California, in an e-mail to Special Olympics. “This is not just a day of awareness, but a movement to end hate as a whole.”
What’s Going On Today
There are more than 700 events and activities happening throughout the United States – and around the world. Celebrities and just plain folks are putting on Spread The Word T-shirts (order one for yourself), buttons or stickers or making signs and placards and banners to make it clear that usings the word “retard” as a term of derision is just as cruel and offensive as any other slur.
Here’s a sample of what’s happening.
How It Started
Created by young people with and without intellectual disabilities, Spread the Word to End the Word is one element of Special Olympics’ vision of a world where everyone matters, where everyone is accepted and, most importantly, where everyone is valued. Leading the way in promoting acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics opposes prejudice and discrimination, continuously working to dispel the negative stereotypes associated with this population — the use of the R-word being one such stereotype. In a world that has worked to eliminate pejorative racial and ethnic language such as the “N word,” among others, the R-word is gaining popularity.
Today, young people across the country are leading local efforts to raise awareness and collect pledges on www.r-word.org from peers and the community to vow not to use the R-word. Actor and activist John C. McGinley, of the hit show “Scrubs,” is helping with this effort by making national media appearances on behalf of the campaign.
What YOU Can Do
After today, let us know how your Spread the Word event went. Send a report, photos and videos to r-word@specialolympics.org
Gigi was referred to us by some friends of ours and had seen some of our work via the wonderful world of Facebook. Having never met Gigi I was, as is normal, unsure what to expect but I was most pleasantly surprised by not only a beautiful woman, but a woman with a wonderful and joyful personality. She was such a joy to work with and we were able to capture quite a few great shots and some very humorous ones as well. Thanks Gigi! And for those who need a Realtor in the Colorado Springs area, hit her up, she’s good people! Here’s her web address http://www.gigiwilliams.com
